Do I Have Allergies or COVID-19?
Spring is almost here! Unfortunately, for many of us, that means our pesky allergy symptoms aren’t far behind. Are the allergy symptoms we might experience this year due to allergies, though, or are they actually linked with COVID-19?
Our team at AFC Urgent Care Smyrna has some answers, so read on!
How Can I Tell If I Have COVID-19?
COVID-19 symptoms often look slightly different in every case, but there are still a few symptoms that typically remain consistent. In most cases, fever, dry cough and shortness of breath occur.
The best way to tell if you have COVID-19, however, is by scheduling a COVID-19 test. Our AFC antigen tests are accurate and yield quick results, so don’t wait to schedule yours once we open if you experience any of the below symptoms.
Symptoms of COVID-19
- Fever
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
How Can I Be Sure that It’s Just Allergies?
Sure, some of the below-mentioned allergy symptoms are closely related to the symptoms of COVID-19, but allergies and COVID-19 are two totally different things. Allergies are caused by response in the immune system and aren’t contagious, while COVID-19 is a respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and is highly contagious.
Additionally, experts say that a normal temperature is a good indication that your allergy symptoms are truly just allergy symptoms and not COVID-19. The coronavirus almost always includes a fever, whereas a fever almost never occurs when dealing with seasonal allergies.
